Liverpool travel to Brentford looking to build on Wednesday’s extraordinary 6-3 Champions League victory over LASK, but the trip to west London presents a different kind of challenge for Andoni Iraola’s side.

Bradley Barcola’s hat-trick and Lewis Koumas’s first Champions League goal provided plenty of attacking encouragement in Austria. However, Liverpool’s second-half defensive struggles — conceding three times after establishing a commanding lead — mean there are still questions to answer following the 3-0 defeat to Manchester City.

The priority today is turning attacking promise into a controlled Premier League performance. Brentford will look to make life uncomfortable, and Liverpool cannot afford to let the game become as open as Thursday’s encounter.
